Tonight is the third meeting of the season between the Williams Lake Timberwolves and the defending Royal Bank Cup Champion Vernon Vipers. The Vipers are riding a thirteen game winning streak heading into todays game. Today is the third straight game for the Vipers wich are playing game #4 of a current six game road trip. Let’s take a look at the Vernon Vipers:
The Vipers currently sit atop the BCHL standings with a record of 20-1-0-0 one point better then the Penticton Vees who are 19-2-0-1 Vernon won its 13th game in a row last night with a 7-1 win over Quesnel. The Vipers have scored 113 goals and have given up a league low 35 goals. The Vipers have four players in the leagues top 20 in scoring. Mike Collins (14-20-34), Dylan Walchuk (12-16-28), Braden Pimm (9-19-28) & Jonathan Milhouse (9-18-27) Vernon goaltender Graeme Gordon is the leagues top goaltender with a record of 16-1 and a GAA of 1.58 Heading into todays contest Vernon is a perfect 11-0 on the road and are still without forwards, Connor & Kellen Jones who are away playing for Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. Vernon is playing its third game of a three game Northern Road trip, their final Northern road trip of the season, unless meeting one of the three teams come Playoffs. Vernon is 2-0 against Williams Lake this year outscoring the Timberwolves 14-3. Vernon will have to try and get out to an early lead, they don’t want to fall behind early and then have to fight their way back especially with today being their third game in three nights. Lets see if the boys will have any gas left in the tank to finish off the T-Wolves. Williams Lake has a few kids who can put the puck in the net, so the Vipers will have to watch Ryan Stanimir (11-9-20), Trent Murdoch (7-12-19), Justin Hogan (2-13-15), Justin Bardarson (6-6-12) & Danny Merth (3-8-11) The longer Vernon allows Williams Lake to be in todays game, the better the chances the T-Wolves have defeating the Vipers, Vernon needs to put away the T-Wolves early.

The Timberwolves currently sit in 9th place in the Interior Division & dead last in the BCHL with a 5-13-1-0 record. The T-Wolves are coming off their 2nd loss in a row last night with a 6-3 loss to PG. Williams Lake has scored just 64 goals and has given up 93 so far this season. The Timberwolves are 3-6-1-0 in their last 10 games and are 5-7-0-0 on home ice. Former Viper Casey Fratkin will face off against one of his former teams. The T-Wolves who are 0-2 against Vernon this year need to jump on the Vipers early, a team that is playing its third game in three days. Williams Lake is going to have to try and shutdown Vernons speed, skill and depth up front. Williams Lake dosnt want players like Braden Pimm, Mike Collins, Cory Kane, Dylan Walchuk and Jonathan Milhouse to have open ice with the puck, all of these kids can hit the back of the net. With today being the Vipers third game in three days, Im guessing backup goaltender Blake Voth will face the T-Wolves for the third time this season. Williams Lake is going to have to try and get lots of pucks and traffic in front of the rookie goaltender who is a perfect 4-0.

Friday, September 26th @ Vernon: Vernon wins 5-1
The Vipers wearing their new 3rd set jerseys knocked off the Williams Lake Timberwolves 5-1 in the first meeting of the season. Jonathan Milhouse with two, Sawyer Mick, Dylan Walchuk & Connor Jones scored for Vernon. Jason Diehl scored Williams Lakes lone goal. Mike Collins with three points, Dylan Walchuk, Kellen Jones & Jonathan Milhouse all picked up two points. Rookie Blake Voth made just 14 saves for his first career BCHL victory. Vernon product Evan Dauenhauer made 33 saves taking the loss.

Friday, October 16th @ Williams Lake: Vernon wins 9-2
Patrick McGillis, Kellen Jones and Dylan Walchuck scored for Vernon, Cameron Hoffman scored for Williams Lake as the Vipers were up 3-1 after the 1st period. Braden Pimm with two goals, while Justin Bardarson replied for the T-Wolves who were down 5-1 after 40 minutes of play. Vernon blew it wide open in the 3rd scoring four goals. Cory Kane, Mike Collins, Drew George & Sawyer Mick all scored for the Vipers who defeated the T-Wolves 9-2. Vernon outshot Williams Lake 48-21 Blake Voth made just 19 saves for the win, while Kirk Croswell made 15 saves taking the loss. Sean Donnelly who started tonights game made 24 saves after being pulled in favor of Croswell.
