Blazers Release Cumming:


Kamloops Blazers General Manager Craig Bonner has announced the Blazers have released 18 year-old defenseman Matt Cumming. ,” Bonner said. “With Matt, we didn’t feel we had enough room for him on our backend. We would like to thank Matt for his service with the hockey club and wish him all the best”, concluded Bonner. Cumming, a Kamloops native, played the last two seasons with the Prince George Cougars. The Kamloops Blazers roster now sits at 26 players, including two goaltenders, eight defenseman, and sixteen forwards.

Matt Cumming played with the Vernon Vipers back in the 2007-08 season. In 20 games with the Vipers Cumming recorded 1 assist. Cumming left the team that year in November to join the WHL Prince George Cougars who owned his playing rights. Prince George traded Cumming back in July to Kamloops for a conditional 7th round selection in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft. The Vipers traded Matt Cummings rights last year to the Merritt Centennials.

08-Oct-08 The Vernon Vipers Hockey Club transfers the playing rights of Matt Cumming (D)(91) and future considerations to the Merritt Centennials Hockey Club in exchange for the playing rights of Graeme Gordon (89)(G).
