The Vernon Vipers were named North Okanagan Team Of The Year by the Funtastic Sports Society on Saturday June 13th at the Funtastic 25th Alumni Reunion. The event was held at the Deer Park Restaurant where all guests were treated to a steak BBQ followed by speeches and guest appearances from Queen Silver Star, Vernon's Sister Sister representatives and hockey legend Howie Meeker. Funtastic Sports Society is a community-based non-profit group, run by volunteers who help develop sports and recreation in the North Okanagan. Vipers, Rob Short and Bryce Kakoske, were on-hand to accept the award. The Vernon Vipers would like to thank the Funtastic Sports Society for recognizing the 2008-2009 team for this award, we are very honored to display the trophy and plaque at our office and know that there were many other deserving teams in the North Okanagan who were also nominated for there outstanding achievements.
