Royal Bank Cup: Victoria 6 Summerside 3
I was at tonights Summerside-Victoria game, as the Grizzlies stayed alive in the RBC with a big 6-3 win. Victoria carried the early edge in play early in the first but couldnt find the back of the net. Summerside was very limited to chances and shots as the Capitals were outshot bigtime in the first. Victoria would go up 2-0 but Summerside didnt quit getting some chances, before the Grizz blew the doors open going up 5-1 into the 3rd. Both teams switched goaltenders to start the final period before Alexandre Peck didnt last too long before getting hurt during the play and had to leave the hockey game, and did not return. Anthony Grieco had to come back into the pipes to finish off the hockey game. The Caps gave the Grizzlies a scare scoring two quick goals to cut the lead to 5-3 but couldnt beat Greico for the remainder of the game, coming close on several occasions. Summerside made a game of it till the final few minutes when the Grizzlies added an empty netter to seal the win. Some cheap shots by the Summerside Capital players on the final goal didnt lead up to much as the Caps run for the RBC come to an end tonight with no chances of making the semifinals. Summerside is all over the map with regards to setting up plays, players are all over the ice, a pass will come through the slot, when theirs nobody even there. Have troubles staying out of the penalty box. Victoria has looked very good at the RBC, but so far other then the one game vs Kingston, the Grizzlies have troubles shutting the door in the 3rd. In three out of the four games the Grizz have either blowen or almost lost games in the 3rd. Tonight was another one of these games, Victoria looked very laid back, with a 5-1 lead before almost allowing the Caps to tie the game. Another small crowd tonight watched their home town Grizzlies at the RBC, very very disapointing.
