After surving the toughest playoff road in Canadian Junior A Hockey, the Kingston Voyageurs will play for the National Junior A Championship for the first time. The Voyageurs have played 29 Playoff games in 73 days against eight different opponents. The Voyageurs claimed the Ruddock Division Championship during the regular season, eking out the title by just a single point over the Peterborough Stars. Kingston didnt have a lights-out scorer leading the way- Brock Higgs & Ben Power tied for the team lead with 58 points, good for only 63rd in the 37-team league. The goaltending however was a different story, as Shawn Sirman picked up from Trenton in a preseason trade- finished third in the OJHL with a 2.36 goals against average, and his .926 save percentage put him second in that category, top ranked heading into the OJHL Playoffs. The Voyageurs posted convincing series wins over Pickering & Ajax, before defeating Peterborough to claim the division playoff championship, advancing to the final four. Kingston defeat Huntsville in the league semifinal to advance to the OJHL Championship vs Oakville. Kingston would knock off the defending champs in 6 games to win the league championship. The Voyageurs would knock off the SIJHL Forth William North Stars to win the Dudley Hewitt Cup, wich gave them a berth into the RBC.
