Check the Trail website. Our very own Stavrianeas has signed with Trail. Guess he really likes the league, just not Vernon. I wish him good luck with his new team. I really enjoyed watching him as a Viper but understand that he must do what he feels is best for him.
ReplyDeletePlay anywhere but Vernon!!!
DeleteAbout 3 months to season start!
ReplyDeleteThe season is close to three months away. With most teams making trades, signing new players, coaches fired and hired, adding new staff members and announcing commitments for the upcoming season it's pretty hard to get excited about the upcoming Vipers season when fans have been left in the dark this summer. Since the 2024-25 regular season ended, there's been no news regarding the Vipers and the upcoming season. Lets face it, if the league website didn't post recent trades, we wouldn't even know the Vipers have made two trades this summer. After missing the playoffs and coming off fifteen wins last year, is the same coaching staff from last season returning? How many players are returning, if any? and no news regarding player signings or players committing for the 2025-26 season. This is a business and your fan base are your customers. Your trying to sell season tickets, attract new fans, get fans excited about the upcoming season, sell merchandise etc Since ownership purchased the hockey club in 2018 the Vipers have been mediocre at best since the 2019-20 season and no where near competing for a Division or Championship. Poor coaching, poor recruiting and poor management can only blame themselves. After one of the worst seasons in franchise history last season, I think as of today the only thing I'm looking forward to, is the new video scoreboard being installed this coming season. Vipers fans have been spoiled and lived through six National Championships, we expect to win and expect a competitive team.
ReplyDeleteWhat I hope for this season is a brand new coaching staff because last season lets face it based on body language they where just for a paycheque. I have never seen coaches so uninvolved with there hockey players. Also I would love for the Glens to hire a new general manager as the glens should not be micro managing there coaching staff . let them do there jobs and if there not have the new GM let them go. Go vipers :*
ReplyDeleteThere is a BCHL coach who has left his team and has Okanagan connections. I hope this guy finds his way back to Vernon but I wonder. Every day that I see experienced players departing the Vipers and another rumour about the Vipers having a coaching vacancy, I make a wish.
ReplyDeleteThis season is going to be another disaster. With no coach, you can’t expect players to sign or commit to Vernon. The coaching search should have begun the day after the last game. Now we have no coach to recruit players and no players signed or committed. At this point no good coach would agree to try to clean this up. Basically starting a job 3-4 months behind in the recruiting season. Very little chance to ice a competitive team from that position. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteWhy are we so sure there’s no coach? Has there been an announcement?
DeleteI'd like to know where this rumor of the Vipers looking for a Head Coach come from? The Vipers have said nothing about Lomicky not returning or the team looking for a new Head Coach. I saw Lomicky along with Assistant Coaches Eric Morrissette/Dean McAmmond and owner John Glen at the Vipers Spring ID Camp. I have heard lots of rumors regarding the team and so far none are true.
ReplyDeleteWho are you going to recruit now? Any elite or great players were recruited many months ago. Teams scout/recruit during the hockey season, not in the middle of summer. Any players being recruited would commit before the season ends or at the end of the season and then it's usually up to the team to make an announcement at some point. Some teams make announcements during the season, other teams wait for the season to end, others do it through out the summer and then some teams wait until closer to or around training camp.
I think that most coaches, and players, are under contract until July 1 each year. A new guy might not be officially able to start with a new team until July 1. Hopefully a new guy has been scouting and getting unofficial commitments. At least this is what I hope is going on.
